1. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council will not be liable for, or indemnify you against or respond to, any claims made for damage or injury suffered by you or a third party while participating in the 2018 Lockyer Valley Garden Competition. You should take your own advice in regard to your insurance position but it is recommended that you notify your own insurer of your intention to participate in the competition. By signing this entry form you understand and agree to the competition terms and conditions. Unsigned entry forms will not be accepted.

Overall competition winners will be announced at a function on 4 September at Laidley Sports Complex at 3:30pm.

Large Rural Garden (category 1) is more than 1/2 acre. This category is specifically for large gardens in a rural area. Judges take water access into account. Small Rural Garden (category 2) is less than ½ acre with similar criteria to category 1. Large Town Garden (category 3) is more than 1/2 acre. Judges will take into account access to town water. Small Town Garden (category 4) is less than ½ acre with similar criteria to category 3. Best Street Appeal (category 5) allows for homes wanting to enter just the front of their property allowing no public access to the property. Business, Health Services or Community Group (category 6) includes displays both inside and outside (this may include window displays). School/Child Care Centre (category 7) is as stated. Best Waterwise/Drought Resistant Garden (category 8) is for gardens that are predominately planted with drought resistant plants and exhibit sustainable gardening practices. Best Patio/Unit Garden (category 9) is as stated.

Prize for category 7: 1st place $100 gift voucher and 2nd place $50.00 gift voucher from Goodwin and Storr Mitre 10, Laidley; 3rd place $20 box of fresh Barden Produce. Prize for category 8: 1st place $100 gift voucher and 2nd place $50.00 gift voucher from Pohlmans Nursery; 3rd place $20 box of fresh Barden Produce. Prize for category 9: 1st place $100 gift voucher and 2nd place $50 gift voucher from Plainlands Hardware & Rural; 3rd place $20 box of fresh Barden Produce. Prizes for First Time Entrant Award: 1st place $100 gift voucher from Withcott Hardware & Rural; 2nd place $50 gift voucher from Lockyer Landscaping Supplies and Nursery; 3rd place $20 box of fresh Barden Produce.

The key criteria judged will include: Design, balance, originality, selection of plants, trees and shrubs (including variety, spacing and balance, appropriate use of plant species, use of colour and texture) design of traffic flow hard landscaping, use of driveway paving and walkways, use of stones, rocks, statuary, containers, walls, fencing, water features, cleanliness of the garden and area, free from disease and weeds, good garden practices and suitable groundcover.

Participation in this competition shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Queensland and the parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the Court of Queensland and all Courts competent to hear appeals there from. The promoter is the Lockyer Valley Regional Council ABN 52 673 165 312.

I also agree to permit the public on my property during the open garden period 6-16 September inclusive (not including entrants who selected the Best Street Appeal category).
