Details

The Gandep Project is a not-for-profit infrastructure project in central north Papua New Guinea. Gandep is a multi-tribal training centre located on the Ramu River flood plain. Stage one of the project is to reopen an airstrip and trade-route which have degraded over time. The project will support the entire remote area consisting of 170 villages with approximately 20,000 people and is undertaken by Hume Ridge Church of Christ, Toowoomba.

The project is being undertaken in full consultation with local tribes and is aimed at supporting and improving their current lifestyle without imposing ‘western culture’.
